The Purple Carpet . . . Well, Balloons Actually

Here are a couple photos of last weekend's run in Salem. My friend Terry and fellow overachiever made the run so much more fun with his company - he's one of my best cheerleaders!

And I swear I'm NOT stealing those balloons from this cute little girl. Really.

In January 2008, I completed my first running event ever, a full marathon with Team in Training. It was my fantastic mom, Phyllis, who inspired me to run for the first time in my life. She lost her battle with leukemia in September of 2007, but she won the ultimate victory - an eternity in Heaven!

Now I am back for another event with Team in Training, once again to do my part to help fund research that will hopefully one day find a cure for leukemia. This time I'm training for a TRIATHLON along with my husband, Dan! If you read back over my blog, you will see that I was never a runner until I began training for a marathon. Well, this is no different. I've never been a swimmer - not even one pool length. So this will truly be a challenge for me!

I hope you will check back and read my blog often. I will continue to update this with our progress. Also, I hope you will visit our fundraising websites and join our team in the fight against leukemia and other blood cancers!
